Director of the Chinese Pavilion at the Wereld Museum Visits Yixing

 From December 2 to 3,2023, Willemijnne van Noord, director of the Chinese Collections Museum of the Netherlands World Museum (Wereld Museum), led the senior curator, commercial director and photographers to Yixing to make preparations for the 2024 "Made in China: makers of China's past and present" exhibition. Zhang Yuzhuo, the founder of the brand, led Dutch friends to explore the —— of Yixing intangible cultural heritage, and participated in the documentary shooting.


On December 2nd, the museum went to Dingshu Town, Yixing, the birthplace of purple sand culture, to visit the No.1 factory, the museum, and Jiang Liwen, a senior arts and crafts artist and a master of ceramic art in Jiangsu Province.

In purple sand factory museum, they understand the development of the teapot, carefully study purple seven old and contemporary Chinese arts and crafts master of purple works, ZhongYan culture director Zhang Yuzhuo said, " the teapot is the Chinese nation unique handmade clay crafts, teapot engraved the calligraphy, calligraphy, poetry, is an important part of Chinese traditional culture, they and purple sand art, complement each other, bring out the best in each other, together tells the enduring story of China, exudes Chinese culture unique confidence and enduring artistic charm."Willemijnne said," It is not easy to create so many purple sand objects. It is not only the forward innovation of human culture, but also the wisdom and light of practicality and aesthetics, which are the most simple endorsement of Chinese culture.”


Then they came to Jiang Liwen's studio, who was born in Dingshu Town, Yixing in 1971 and graduated from Nanjing Normal University with a bachelor's degree. In 1989, he entered the Yixing Purple Sand Technology Factory of Jiangsu Province, and studied with senior craft artists Ge Daozhong and Zhou Dinghua. In 1994, he entered the professional training class of "Purple Sand shape Design" in the Central Academy of Fine Arts and Technology. I had a rational understanding of the modeling design of pot art, and then learned the art around Gu Jingzhou, a master of Chinese arts and crafts, and got the careful guidance of Gu Lao. At ordinary times their strict requirements, diligent and studious, laid a solid full manual skills. Later, he worshipped Mr.Bao Zhiqiang, a master of Chinese arts and crafts. His works have exquisite workmanship, beautiful shape and extraordinary momentum.


Jiang Liwen show their scene do pot process, from cut mud-mud-scraping mud to cut mud-body cylinder, etc., the success of a purple sand handicraft, after ten to dozens of complex molding process, curator ms Florentina Scholte said " I personally felt the clay at the fingertips, hope we can jointly polish the world purple sand culture image card, expand the international reputation of Chinese culture and influence."Zhang Yuzhuo, head of Zhongyan Culture, said," Yixing Zisha teapot was first exported to Europe through trade, which can be traced back to 1679. Looking at today's world, Chinese culture has been blossomed everywhere. I hope that the purple sand can carry the Chinese culture from China to the world, and bring more far-reaching influence.”
